Our Intention
'Through the vehicle of compassion, we intend to provide expert yoga instruction to all who wish to learn.   It is our belief that Yoga is an integral ingredient in a mixture that sustains a purposeful life filled with loving presence, compassionate interaction, benevolent action, inspired rest, and spiritual growth.'

Nestled in the heart of Rapid City, Roots Yoga Center assists people in their pursuit of health, fitness and well being in a class environment catered for individual learning; yet we maintain a focus on community building.  We understand the importance of value, thus we consistently and consciously maintain a commitment to the highest standards of personal service in a comfortable environment.

As a member of Roots Yoga, you will find a studio run by a community of people, dedicated to a community of people.  You will find a place to belong, to strengthen, to breathe in symphony with others; a place to seek inner calm and embrace acceptance.  Put simply, Roots is a place to be.  I invite you to join us and cultivate the joy within you!

~ A NOTE FROM JANICE ~

I would like to offer up most sincere apologies to those I know, and those I do not know
who have been effected by the recent collapse in the phone, text and email messaging at Roots.

In as much as we can detect, the source of this issue was a blackberry, and infected computer operation as well as phone. The earliest detection of a problem was November of 2010.

Sadly, there is no way of knowing how long this has gone on.

As of Wednesday, July 13th all systems appear to be functioning properly again.

If you, or someone you know were not replied to,
either through phone message, email, facebook or text ~ please contact us again.
We would love to answer any questions you may have about our growing studio!

Complicating this already difficult issue has been my ongoing health concerns. Had my focus not been so weighted here, I  may have caught this messaging issue long ago.  In February I was diagnoised with a rare progressive neurological disease.  While this was a card I would not have chosen, after 2.5 years of symptoms it was good to finally know what was happening to my body so proper treatment could ensue.  Since February, I have felt myself the experiment of many a pharmaceutical company, endured the stick of dozens of injections, and experienced nerve blocks more painful than natural childbirth of 9lb boys. While the disease seems to have spread, it also has been signifacantly halted in its progression.  The treatments for me now will require some extended absence from teaching in late July and August. We are doing everything possible to cover these classes, but it may be necessary to take our annual maintenance closure for these treatments. Look to the announcements page for further information, and at the studio.

This is a condition, a disease, in which remission is possible;
and in my case...a patient who has 17 years of yoga practice behind every breath, it is probable.
So, my dear friends...I fill in the gaps not to burden you, nor to seek your pity.
Simply, that I, like you, need to Breathe. Be Well. and Be Strong.

                                                                                                                 Namaste!

Breathe.
Be Well.
Be Strong.
Root, n. [M E. and late AS. rote]  4. the source or origin of an action, quality, etc. (Breathe)  6. a supporting part, a base (Be Well) 7. an essential part, a core (Be Strong)
v.i. 1-2. to become settled and grow.
Become Still & Grow... TM
